We’re delighted to be able to announce that Guided walks will be resuming from 11th August.  Please see the information below from Active Charnwood Alliance


For the time being these walks will be a bit different to those that took place pre-lockdown.

* All places on the walks are for pre-booking only. Bookings can be made by phone on 01509 63 4673 during weekdays - please leave a message if you go through to voicemail. Bookings can be made by email to On all messages & emails please provide name, phone and email (if available), and the walk name, date and time you wish to book onto - we will then get back to you to confirm the booking, offer an alternative place, or to add you to a waiting list.

* We recommend that you bring your own PPE. The walks will be adhering to 2m social distancing, or 1m+ for short periods where this is not possible. In general the routes will avoid touch points like gates and stiles, however these may be encountered, therefore we recommend bringing hand-sanitiser.

Meet at The Three Crowns Inn car park, Cotes Road, Barrow upon Soar, LE12 8JS

The Three Crowns will be open for toilet facilities before and after the walk.  Tables for refreshments after the walk can be booked on the morning of the walk but MUST be booked prior to leaving for the walk so that Carole and her team can prepare a suitable space according to the weather and number of people per table. Please comply with all government guidelines for post walk refreshments.

Starter Walks:
Suitable for people who have not walked much before, who are looking to be more active, or are returning from injury or illness. These walks also offer the opportunity for people to increase their activity levels and are generally 20-30 minutes in duration. Most of these walks will be on flat ground and therefore may be suitable for wheelchairs and buggy walkers.

Short Walks:
For people who have undertaken a number of the Starter Walks and are now looking to take their next step to something a little more challenging. These walks are approximately 60 minutes in duration and can include some steps, stiles and uneven surfaces

Long Walks:
Longer Walks, intended for people who are used to walking or have undertaken a number of the Short Walks. These walks will be about 90 minutes in duration, and will include some steps, stiles and uneven surfaces

Power Walks:
Longer Walks but taken at a faster pace, intended for people who have undertaken a number of the Long Walks but prefer a faster pace. These walks will be about 90 minutes in duration, and will include some steps, stiles and uneven surfaces.
